Sarsala Bay is one of our jewels located in Fethiye-Göcek Special Environmental Protection Area. For this reason, there is no ugly construction in the environment that will disturb your eyes. This serene bay, which has never been visited by big waves, is a natural wonder that blends blue and green.
Sarsala Bay is actually connected to Dalaman, but Göcek is the closest touristic town on the seashore in the vicinity. For this reason, the name Sarsala is mostly associated with Göcek.
Sarsala is a magnificent geography with a wide sandy beach, surrounded by green mountains with trees on 3 sides. There are a lot of trees on the beach. Under the shade of these trees, it is a wonderful feeling to watch the forest-covered mountains surrounding Sarsala Bay and swim in the turquoise and blue sea. In addition, boats docking in the bay can anchor next to the trees away from the beach.
The sea in Sarsala Bay is immaculate, almost glassy, and no matter how deep you go, the bottom is visible. You enjoy swimming with large and small fish.
There is a municipal kiosk on the beach. The prices are quite reasonable but crowded on weekends. On the public beach on the beach, there are services such as showers and cabins, as well as sun loungers, shade or table rentals. In short, you can comfortably spend the whole day in Sarsala Bay without bringing anything with you.
Station without railways
In history, Sarsala Bay is one of the leading actors of a mistake that makes people smile. Abbas II Hilmi Pasha, the son of the Khedive of Egypt Mehmet Ali Pasha of Kavala, crossed the path of Dalaman in 1905. His boat docks in Sarsala Bay. Pasha liked the region very much and wanted to build a hunting lodge on the fertile plain close to Dalaman. Pasha wanted to build a train station in Egypt in the same period. But there is a mix-up, the ship carrying the architectural drawings, materials and workers of the station docks in Sarsala Bay, and the materials of the Hunting Lodge go to Egypt. And at that time, a station was built in Dalaman, which did not have a railway even today, including the ticket office. The only thing missing is the railway. On the next visit of the Pasha, the mistake is understood. Today, that train station is still used by the Dalaman Agricultural Enterprise Directorate.
How to Get to Sarsala Bay
There are two ways to reach Sarsala Bay. One by road and the other by boat from the sea.
When you set off from Göcek for transportation by road, you must first come to Dalaman and take the road to Dalaman Airport. After the airport, you can follow the Kapukargın signs and arrive at Sarsala Bay with a narrow asphalt road of approximately 17 km. In total, the road is 35 km from Göcek and takes about 45 minutes.
After the airport, the road narrows and sharp curves begin, especially when approaching Sarsala Bay. However, Kocagöl surprise awaits you on the way. This lake is perhaps one of the most beautiful lakes in Turkey. Be sure to take a break in a suitable place and enjoy the view.
When you reach Sarsala Bay, the road ends, but there is no parking problem. You can definitely find a place.
Transportation by sea, of course, is much more enjoyable. Especially those who rent a yacht enjoy the sea and the view without mingling with the crowd of the beach off the bay.
