Göbün Bay

It is a bay hidden at the far end of the Kapıdağ Peninsula, as if it fell from heaven to earth. Göbün Bay is a Mediterranean wonder that has gathered all the shades of blue and green.
Göbün Bay is a bay with a narrow entrance from the sea. What makes it so special is probably the atmosphere that this narrow entrance gives. When you look out of Göbün Bay, it is as if you are looking at a corridor, and when you look at it from the open sea, it is difficult to tell that there is a bay here. However, as you get closer to the land, you realize that there is a bay here.
Göbün Bay
We seem to hear you say that the Kapıdağ Peninsula was not in the Sea of Marmara.

Yes, Turkey has a second Kapidag Peninsula.

This idyllic geography, which stretches to the sea between Dalaman and Göcek, took its name from the ruins of the city walls, which are located at the narrowest point where the peninsula meets the mainland and serve to control the passage.

The peninsula overlooks Rhodes Island to the west and Göcek and Fethiye to the northeast.

At the far end of the peninsula, where there are many bays such as Martı Bay, Binlik Bay, Hamam Bay, Göbün Bay is located.

An untouched beauty
Although Göbün Bay is known as one of the bays of Göcek, it is technically connected to Dalaman.

Reminiscent of tropical geographies, this bay has Merdivenli Bay on one side, Domuz Island on the other, and Sarsala Bay opposite.

As in the entire surrounding area, construction is prohibited here and settlement is very limited.

The state has done its duty here and protected the geography. Our duty as visitors is to leave Göbün Bay and the whole region as clean as we found it.

There is no land transportation to Göbün. It is such an untouched geography that there is no mains water and electricity. This is one of the biggest reasons why the sheep has been able to remain so natural until today.

A sea like a lake
Göbün Bay has a narrow and long entrance. Therefore, the bay does not receive any waves. Pine and olive trees cover the slopes and hills of the bay.

There are no strong winds in the bay, which resembles a natural marina. There will be a storm outside, so we can only say that the wind will blow here.

But don't get me wrong, the fact that the bay doesn't get wind doesn't mean being sweltered on hot summer days.

A gentle wind blows through the pine forests and olive groves on the hill. This refreshing, breath-taking wind blends into the endless blue of the Mediterranean.

You are grateful by thinking about how beautiful the world, Turkey and life are.

From the Battleship Goeben (Yavuz) to Göbün
Due to its narrow and long structure, very large boats and mega yachts cannot enter Göbün Bay, and even if they do, they cannot maneuver.

As a matter of fact, the name Göbün was mentioned in the 1st century of the Ottoman Empire. It is said to come from the famous battleship Goeben (Yavuz), which caused it to enter World War II.

This famous battleship, which was on its way to Istanbul, tried to enter the bay to take a break here, but failed. Of course, this is a rumor, not information that is certain to be true.

Ideal for those who want to dive
Göbün Bay is quite shallow, in most places the depth is between 5 and 7 meters. Especially the western parts of the bay are much shallower. It is said that there are ruins of ancient buildings under these shallow parts.

It is estimated that these ruins are Greek houses from the Eastern Roman and Byzantine periods. Presumably, in one of the great Mediterranean earthquakes, the ground must have collapsed and the buildings were buried in the sea.

It is already possible to see the continuation of the ruins that are assumed to be in the sea on the slopes and hills surrounding Göbün Bay.

This clear sea is ideal for those who want to dive. So at least have your goggles with you. Who knows, maybe you can make an underwater exploration.

The sunset is watched from Bayraktepe
The name of the dominant hill of Göbün Bay, where the view can be watched, is Bayraktepe.

The road of this hill, which can be reached by a path from the shore, is covered with very sharp stones and rocks. Therefore, do not try it with beach shoes or slippers. Be sure to climb with walking shoes.

At the top of Bayraktepe, a wonderful view awaits you. The sunset, which you can't see while on the shore, becomes breathtaking here.

The light plays formed over the neighboring bays of Merdivenli Bay and Dış Göbün Bay drag people into the world of dreams.

Boater-friendly restaurant
At the lowest point of Göbün Bay, there is a restaurant serving yacht and boat owners and a pier for 40-50 yachts belonging to this restaurant.

Founded in 1972 by a diver from Kayaköy and his wife, this family restaurant is also one of the first coastal restaurants in Göcek bays.

The owners are still humble and welcome everyone with great hospitality and warmth.

All ingredients come to the restaurant by sea. Electricity, on the other hand, is provided by solar panels and batteries. This means that the time you will spend in the bay will not hear the hum of the generator.

There is a WC and shower facilities in the restaurant. There are products such as ice cream and cigarettes in the market. There's even a barbershop for long-haul yachtsmen.

Especially in high season, it is not possible to find a place without a reservation. We recommend that you make a reservation even in the winter months because the fame of Göbün Bay and the restaurant has already crossed the borders.
