Günlüklü Bay

You are in a lush forest of Günlük trees. At the end of the forest, a beach of white sand and a turquoise sea await you in Günlüklü Bay.
Günlüklü Bay has a beach and sea reminiscent of the Maldives. First, when you look up, you enter a fragrant dense forest where even the sky is not visible. Then, where the trees end, a fine white sandy beach and a turquoise sea welcome you. You find yourself in a bay covered with tree-lined hills on both sides. Everything is not real, but like a dream.
Günlüklü Bay
When you hear the name Günlüklü Bay, you can't help but wonder what this name means.

We were curious and learned that the bay got its name from the trees that filled the forest it was in.

In the dense forest covering the back of the beach in Günlüklü Bay, there are trees that have reached a height of 20 meters and are dense enough to block the sky. These trees were log trees native to this region. Yes, the name of the tree is Günlük.

We are not exaggerating when we say that this region is specific. It is possible to come across log trees growing only in this region (South Aegean and Western Mediterranean regions) and in Rhodes, the island opposite Günlüklü, outside of Turkey.

Even these trees are a very important reason to visit Günlüklü Bay.

The smell of the forest will blow your mind
Another name for the Günlük tree is the Anatolian sweetgum tree. This tree, which grows in warm and waterlogged soils, has a smell called frankincense on its bark.

Therefore, the oil of the tree is very valuable for the perfumery and pharmaceutical industry. It is also used as incense in religious rituals and has received the name "Günlük Tree" because of this feature.

Indeed, when you visit, your nose will smell a very nice smell emanating from the trees. Especially at sunrise and sunset, this smell will make you dizzy.

Küçük Kargı Ömer Eşen Nature Park
The forest, in which Günlüklü Bay is located, is also known as Küçük Kargı Ömer Eşen Nature Park.

The management of this nature park, which was previously open to everyone, was given to a private company. For this reason, you can enter this forest for a certain fee.

The trees are so dense in the forest that the blue sky is not visible in most places. The coolness of these tree shades is invaluable for the months of July and August.

Since it is a nature park, many services such as fountains, toilets, showers, cafes are offered.

There are also picnic tables under the trees. If you wish, you can sit at these tables all day long and swim in the sea. At the point where the trees end, the beach begins.

A beach with fine white sand
After the entrance to Günlüklü Bay, the coast divides into two. The beach, which is approximately 500 meters long, has a beach club belonging to a 5-star hotel on one side and a public beach on the other.

The sand of the beach club is whiter and finer. Sunbeds, umbrellas, food and beverage and other services are naturally offered at higher prices.

On the public beach, services such as sunbeds and umbrellas are more economical. Moreover, when you arrive in the early hours, you can use the picnic tables under the trees free of charge.

Although the sand of the public beach is a little more stony, the inside of the sea is the same sea. A magnificent sea with fine sand on the bottom, gradually deepening.

There is also a water sports center here. There are many fun activity options such as surfing and canoeing.

Children will not be able to get enough of playing in the sea
The water in Günlüklü Bay is neither cold nor hot, it is just right. The sea is gradually deepening, and its bottom consists of fine sand. In short, this is a sea that children will love.

However, let's warn about one thing, there are fish nests on the sea floor. In some periods and at certain time intervals, fish may bite their feet lightly to protect their nests.

Sometimes children can be afraid of these bites, which do not bother adults very much and even like them. However, these bites do not necessarily happen all the time. And sometimes the fish don't care about you at all.

In any case, your day will be better if you explain these bites to your child before the sea as "fish can tickle you".

Squirrels eat out of your hands
Günlüklü Bay has everything to spend a nice day. Squirrels come up to your lounge chair and eat out of your hand, ducks roam under the trees.

The exquisite view of Günlüklü Bay becomes even more beautiful with the scent emanating from the Günlük trees.

There is also a 5-star hotel, caravan and tent camping
There is a 5-star hotel hidden among the trees in Günlüklü Bay. You will already see that they reserve special sun loungers for their own customers on the beach.

For those who come with their caravans or want to set up tents, there are camping areas with well-organized infrastructure.

Those who wish can rent bungalow houses. In short, there is an option for everyone in Günlüklü Bay.

It is also a favorite of yachtsmen with Günlük
How could it not be? When you look at it from the sea, you are surrounded by forested slopes on both sides. At the end of Günlüklü Bay, there is a white sandy beach, and behind it is a forest of huge trees of 20-30 meters.

Since it is a long bay, there is no need for boats to stand side by side in a cramped way. Moreover, there is a pier in Günlüklü Bay where 16 yachts can be moored. A 5-star resort service is offered to yachtsmen on this pier.

It is possible to get restaurant, accommodation, electricity, water, beach club services.

Even if you don't have a yacht, renting a yacht is a very reasonable idea. Why? Prices in beach clubs are more or less certain.

When the costs such as entrance fee to the nature park, parking fee, sun loungers, umbrellas, food and beverage are put on top of each other, perhaps yacht charter will be much more economical.
