But perhaps the most important of all is the series of islands lined up in front of Göcek, starting with Göcek Island and continuing as Yassıca and Tersane. These islands are called the

The interval between the islands is sometimes as low as 12 meters. The middle of each island is actually a strait geographically, and these straits offer jewel-worthy landscapes and beauties for boats sailing at sea.
Where does the name of Domuz Island come from?
Domuz Island is one of the 3 largest islands within the 12 Islands. It is not an island that can be stepped on, that is, it can be landed and visited, because it is private property.
According to rumors, the island belongs to the
Simavi family, the founder of the
Hürriyet Newspaper. However, it is of course free to anchor around Domuz Island and swim in its bays.
Domuz Island is very close to the Kapidag Peninsula, which is located to the west. From time to time, it is said that wild boars on the Kapıdağ Peninsula swim to Domuz Island. Because of this, the island began to be known as Domuz Island.
Another name for Domuz Island is
Prince's Island. Because it is said that a prince lived on the island for a while. Of course, this may be an untrue rumor because it is not known in the environment which prince lives here.
There are also some historical ruins inside Domuz Island, you can photograph these ruins while touring around the island by boat.
There is a settlement consisting of a few buildings in just one bay of Domuz Island, the rest is covered with pine and olive trees. This untouched naturalness is astounding.
The clarity of the sea in Akvaryum Bay is breathtaking
It is possible to anchor, swim and dive all around Domuz Island.
However, on the side of the island facing Göcek, there are two bays called Panço Bay and
Akvaryum Bay.
Of these, Akvaryum Bay has a very special sea. First of all, the sea is really turquoise and crystal clear.
Near the shore, there are some historical ruins that are thought to be left by the Byzantines at a bottom of 1.5-2 meters. These stones must be the reason for this clarity and turquoise color.
That's why it is a great pleasure to swim in Akvaryum Bay, dive, or at least snorkel.
