Make a wish at the Dilek (Wish) Cave

In this cave, there is no genie that says "you have 3 three wishes" as in fairy tales, but there is a fairy-tale beauty that will fascinate you.
Dilek Cave, also known as Phosphorus Cave, is a breathtakingly beautiful natural formation located at the tip of Cennet Island, southwest of Marmaris.
Marmaris is one of the most popular holiday destinations on the south coast of Turkey. Dilek Cave is one of the most deserving beauties of this region, which is famous for its blue flag beaches, vibrant nightlife and historical ruins.

Here's what you need to know about this natural wonder…

The cave is in the hardest-to-reach corner of Cennet Island

Also known as Yildiz, this island is connected to the mainland by a narrow road called the False Bosphorus. That's why technically a peninsula might be more accurate. There is a highway up to a certain part of the island, but it is not possible to reach the point where Dilek Cave is located by car. For this reason, the cave and its surroundings have a green and untouched appearance. Of course, the hands of the disrespectful people who wrote their names on the cave walls reached here as well. These writings are living proof that such people are truly at the level of cavemen. Yet the sea, nature and cave are so beautiful that people ignore these writings.

Since there is no land transportation, one of the best ways to see this place and swim outside and inside this unique cave is to charter a yacht. Thus, you can visit the cave at the hour when the tour boats are least visited, and swim in the cave with your adventurous spirit without mingling with the crowd.

Make a wish

Everyone has wishes they want to come true in life. The cave and island must have inspired people with its beauty that there was a belief that the wishes made here would come true. If you have a wish, just close your eyes and toss a small coin into the cave. After seeing this place, you will probably wish to never leave this paradise corner. Who knows, maybe it will come true.

Another name of Dilek Cave is Phosphorus Cave

Contrary to this name, there is no phosphorus in the cave. However, the sea water inside and outside the cave has a turquoise color. For this reason, the reflections of the sun in the water create a phosphorescent appearance inside the cave and on its ceilings. At some times of the day, these reflections become so intense that you think the ceiling of the cave is covered with phosphor emitting turquoise color.

Dilek Cave is waiting for you in Marmaris for you to experience this fairy-tale beauty by making a heartfelt wish.
